Everyone in this room was looking down at Earth.  Most had their eyes closed; some were even pulling at their hair, strand by strand.  No one seemed to be alive, or dead apparently.  No one dared to speak, and cold silence hung in the air.  Among the half-dying individuals, one put his head up and looked up at the clock, which remained as silent as a doornail.  He stared at it as if waiting for something.  As time passed, others followed him, casting their eyes upon the clock.  A minute before the end of the farce, everyone was fixed on the ticking hands.  Now the test was over, and the room returned to its normal. 

この部屋ではみんな下を向いていた。そのほとんどが目を閉じ、髪を引き抜くものもいた。誰も生きているようにはみえない。もちろん、死んではいないのだが。誰も口を開こうとはしない。冷たい静寂が場を包んだ。死にかけの群衆の中で1人、顔を上げて時計を見るものがいた。時計は生気を感じさせないほどに静かだった。彼は何かを期待するように時計を睨み続けた。時が経つにつれ、他のものも彼に追随し始め、この茶番が終わる1分前には、みんな時計を睨んでいた。テストが終わり、教室は元の姿を取り戻した。

テスト中、全員の顔が時計に集中すること、ありますよね。
